Instead, the morning of their wedding, a torrential downpour was occurring. Thankfully, as the old wives’ tale says, rain is good luck on a wedding day, and that was clearly true for this gorgeous couple. Their rainy, romantic wedding was captured beautifully by Donna Cheung Photography, and we can tell that despite the rain, the couple lit up the day.
The bride started her day by getting ready at her home, and when photographer Donna Cheung arrived, the downpour was still happening, but that was going to dampen the bride’s big day! The bride was pampered by makeup artist Jordan Domizio, and she and her bridesmaids look incredibly happy in their matching, floral robes while getting ready for the day. After getting her hair and makeup done, the bride slipped into her stunning, lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and straps that extended in romantic detail into the back of gown. The fit and flare silhouette looked perfect on Katie, and her bridesmaids also looked beautiful in their deep plum flowing dresses. Shawn looked the dapper part to Katie’s gorgeous bridal look. The choice of his grey suit was perfect with the bridesmaids dresses plum color and lightened up the wedding’s color palette. His groomsmen also looked handsome in the same color suit with red boutonniere details.
Prior to their gorgeous ceremony, the couple took time to capture a perfect first look moment. The smile on Shawn’s face with he saw Katie for the first time in her gown was priceless, and we love the sheer joy that’s evident between the couple. The pair and the wedding party then took time to capture some stunning images with Donna Cheung Photography at the Pequot Library, and then they moved over to the stunning covered porch of the Burr Homestead during the rain.
Despite what many would consider to be unfortunate weather, the couple’s ceremony lit up the day. The gorgeous white walls and stunning decor of the Burr Homestead made the perfect, romantic background for the couple’s vows. The stunning architecture made the location the perfect choice, and the vow exchange was simply beautiful to see.
Following the ceremony, the pair took some incredibly fun photos with their wedding party and guests before heading to the reception. The elegant tables and floral arrangements looked perfect with the grandeur of the venue. AMG Catering provided delicious food for the couple’s guests, and the pair departed from tradition and had delectable cupcakes from The Cake Box. After toasts from friends and family, Katie and Shawn danced the night away thanks to Dance to the Music Entertainment.
Despite the rain, Katie and Shawn’s big day was absolutely gorgeous. Their love for one another, the beautiful venue, and joyful guests truly made this day a lovely affair, and we wish all the best to the happy couple!
