This place is a complete and utter scam. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances and pandemic related reasons we had to cancel our wedding at The Barns. Not only did they express zero remorse for our situation, they were unwilling to assist us in any way possible. This place was unwilling to provide any partial or full refund despite our countless attempts at finding an alternative solution. The entire time we chose this location for our special day they continued to manipulate conversation and the prices kept going up. Pay close attention to the price of this location and how they will continue charging you for every little thing you want to add. I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to get married or celebrate their special day find another location. Please read this post and take into consideration when planning your special day. This is not how business is done and considering everything the world has gone through over the past two years this business should be ashamed. Jonathon, their COO is rude, inconsiderate, and disrespectful. The way he speaks over the phone, and his rude email telling me that I was not allowed or welcome to speak to anyone at The Barns. He continues to run this business terribly and should consider changing careers. Tom McDowell, the CEO of CT Wedding Group should pay more attention to the team he has running this so called business. After numerous attempts, the CT Wedding Group would not share my feedback with the owner or allow me to contact Tom directly. Please read this message and find another location to host your special day. @Tom McDowell - Please contact me directly if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.

Posting this to see if anyone has had a similar experience with CT Wedding Group. My fiancée and I scheduled our wedding for 9/4/2020. When corona virus hit, we had to postpone our wedding to 9/3/2021. The Barns gave us such an incredibly hard time about postponing it and they didn't even want us to change anything. The length of time to even get a response from the venue was incredibly long. I would have to text and email them to get a response, and even once had to post on their Facebook in order to get a call back. Mr. Jennings then had us cancel our wedding for 9/4, and re-schedule it for 9/3 but with lots of new fees and upcharges like charging $4,000 more for the site fee, which increased the price from $6,000 to $10,000 just to use the space, and increasing the per plate amount from $139.95 to $159.95. Originally Mr. Jennings said this was due to the fact that the wedding was now taking place in a new year, but we would not have postponed our wedding if corona virus didn't hit. I also reached out to CT wedding group to ensure that if legally we could only have 100 guests that we would be charged for 100 guests not our minimum count of 150 - they couldn’t give me a straight answer on that and after speaking to another couple it turned out they were being charged their minimum no matter the regulation. After a lot of consideration, we decided to cancel our wedding because a destination wedding in another state during corona virus was not the right move for us or our families. We had already paid $18,125.00. We gave seven months' notice of the cancellation. Mr. Jennings offered us $1,000.00 back, which is insulting when you've paid so much money. One couple we've been talking to is a military veteran who was being deployed before her wedding, and CT Wedding Group refused to return her money. Are other couples struggling with the same issues? The customer service has been terrible, and considering there is a pandemic going on, you would think that a huge venue like CT Wedding Group with multiple wedding sites would treat their couples with respect and understand what a hard decision it is to postpone or cancel your wedding. Luckily, we have since rebooked with a great vendor on Long Island, who is also part of a larger wedding group - and they're offering full refunds to their couples if they are unable to get married during the pandemic. That is the mark of great customer service, and a wedding venue I would recommend to my family and friends, not a group that takes advantage of people while they're planning the best day of their lives

This classic New England venue with its Well-cared-for grounds provides a stunning backdrop for photos. The Weeping Willows provide a dream-like atmosphere for us to capture intimate moments. A lovely place indeed!

I don't even know where to start with how I feel about my experience with The Barns at Wesleyan Hills. I can honestly say that without the Connecticut Wedding Group (the hosts of the Barns), and particularly my wedding coordinator Mary Beth, I probably would have had a mental break down from stress lol! From the second we signed the contract and secured our date, until the wedding, The Connecticut Wedding Group was by my side, answering questions, offering suggestions, and making my life a whole lot easier. And the venue? We'll I think that speaks for itself. I saw the pictures online and assumed I could never afford it (my first mistake). Then I thought "it can't actually look like that in person" (my second mistake). We walked in, and it was EXACTLY what it looks like online. In fact, it is even PRETTIER in person if that is possible. And, after sitting down with them to go over the details, we realized while it was on the higher side of our price range, it was absolutely affordable. After working with them, I'd say it was a STEAL based on how much we actually got. The food was AMAZING. They let us go to both tastings (their menu's range by season) and allowed me to put together the buffet of my dreams, all while being sensitive to my food allergies. While most people miss their cocktail hours due to photo's, they brought our cocktail hour to us by making sure we had plenty to eat, and a never ending supply of drinks. By the end of the night, every person close to me knew about Mary Beth and what an asset she was. In fact, any time someone had a question, someone else would chime in with "I bet Mary Beth knows!" (Mary Beth, if you are reading this, I'm pretty sure my family would adopt you now if given the opportunity LOL). I couldn't have DREAMED up a better wedding day. I've heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests and every picture I've seen trickle in on Facebook so far only further confirms why we made the decision we did. If you are thinking of booking the Barns, or any of their venues, get on the phone and call NOW. Secure your date and focus your stress elsewhere! :)

I just booked my wedding here for August 2012 and I couldn't be more excited. The venue is like straight out of a fairy tale and the staff has been amazing to work with so far! The Barns at Wesleyan Hills

We had our wedding at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills on June 20th 2008 and it was literally perfect! We had so much help and support from all those who work at the barns and were so happy with how organized and put together is was without feeling stuffy. The barns is beatiful and the perfect setting for a fun and rustic but elegant wedding. Traci was awesome and warm and I just loved her. Our guests keep talking about how amazing the food was and how it was "the best wedding they've ever been to!" Thanks so much for making our dreams come true

My husband and I also wanted to find a site that was unique and would provide a great building block for putting our creative ideas together for our wedding day. We had planned an entire outdoor ceremony, and unfortunately had to be married under a tent in the courtyard due to rain. But regardless, the Barns were so perfect for a cozy feeling and intimate gathering place for all of our guests. We decorated the barn with a dramatic cascade of light from the center beam outwards. It was exactly what I had pictured and so dramatic. On first glance, the Barns appear dark and cold, but if you consider different lighting options, you can really make it quite elegant. I highly recommend having your wedding here. The price can't be beat!

Words can't describe how pleased I was with my experience at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills and Pavilion Catering. When looking for facilities I was looking for something unique and different. At first I was nervous about using a barn instead of a traditional banquet hall, but the staff at Pavilion went above and beyond. Traci was just terrific! Every detail from the ceremony on the island to the cocktail hour under the tent in the courtyard was handled beautifully. The staff was so friendly and helped me with any little request I made. Guests are still coming up to me to tell me how good the food was. Personally, I haven't tasted anything that can compare to the shrimp cocktail and the prime rib that I had.
