| Congratulations! It’s wonderful, perhaps a bit scary, and probably filling your thoughts and conversations much of the time these days. I would be delighted to be a part of your special day. I can, of course, officiate at your ceremony. (It may be a close race as to who enjoys it more – the two of you, or me!) I can also provide as much assistance as you would like in preparing for that day.
I look forward to meeting you as soon as you are ready to get started. We will have at least one face-to-face meeting prior to the ceremony. That will give us a chance to get to know and feel comfortable with one another, and to begin to choose the style, format and content of your ceremony.
For a simple ceremony for a couple who have known one another for some time and are already in agreement about what they want, this may be sufficient. For couples who plan a more elaborate ceremony, would appreciate some guidance in thinking through exactly what they want, or would like some strategies to reduce stress resulting from the almost to-be-expected pre-ceremony tension within the couple or with family or friends, additional sessions can be arranged. Couples most often choose to use email to exchange ideas for rituals, readings and other ceremony ideas, as well as to refine the draft of the ceremony.
I will be delighted to join you in creating a ceremony that honors all that each of you brings to your union and that reflects your own particular circumstances and preferences. Whether you expect 300 guests, prefer a very simple ceremony, or anything in between, together we will make your special day exactly what you hope it will be. Couples from diverse backgrounds - interfaith, multi-racial, same-sex, multi-cultural - continually enrich my life and experience as a Justice of the Peace and, I believe, find in me someone who delights in their love nearly as much as the couple themselves. On your big day, the three of us will take pride in the beautiful and meaningful celebration of your love that we have created together.
I can travel to any part of Connecticut for your ceremony and can facilitate or participate in a rehearsal as needed. I generally wear a dark suit for the ceremony, but can adapt within reason to suit your colors or theme. I will give you a certificate, suitable for framing, and make arrangements for you to receive a certified copy of your license, which is the official legal document, within a month or so of your ceremony. My fee is based on the amount and kinds of services provided, and will be agreed upon at our first meeting.
