The art of our fine Italian baking comes from our family business that started in Caserta, Italy, almost a century ago. Our Grandparents came with treasured baking recipes to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, N.Y. The tradition remains with us, from generation to generation.

Terrible Wedding Cake
Driving around Norwalk and Stamford looking for a place to choose where to get a wedding cake for my wedding, I eventually walked in with my wife to view some wedding cakes. After looking at some books and some of the displays we chose to get a wedding cake there. We chose a cake out of a book on display, we wanted a double layered, double chocolate cake, for about 30 or so people with a beautiful display of smooth chocolate and roses around the cake. The woman that was in charge of making the cakes agreed with what we had said but recommended a frosting coating instead of fondant, saying the frosting would "taste better." We agreed because she said that she could smooth out the cake like the photo in the book and the fact that we mainly wanted to have the cake taste great. She said to us that she would be supplying the flowers and that all we would have to do is supply the cake topping around a week or so before the wedding. Everything was fine and we had no problems as the cake was being made, at least until we dropped off the cake topping off. The same woman looked us up and said, "remember to drop off the roses." Not thinking, we agreed and continued planning the wedding. A few days later I remembered what she had said and called to ask if we needed to supply the roses. Of course, she said we had to pay for them and drop them off a day before the wedding. We avoided confrontation and just asked where to get the roses that she needed. She directed us to a flower shop where we got 7 roses for around $30, a little high, but no problem nonetheless. Eventually our wedding day came and everything was going great. The ceremony was beautiful, everything was set, the cake was to be picked up for us and dropped off at the reception area. (That's right, they don't deliver) We walked in to see a cake that looked like it was made in an hour. The frosting was messy and looked dreadful. The flowers were ripped up and thrown on the cake, and some were cut off at the top and shoved into the cake. Needless to say, my wife was upset, I calmed her down telling her that it probably tastes amazing and not to worry. We continued the reception with great food and almost forgot about the cake, until we went to eat it. As my wife and I smeared frosting into each others faces, we realized the cake tasted unusual. As we sat to eat the cake, we realized our double chocolate cake was orange flavored! After the honeymoon, we talked to our family about the cake. They agreed 100% about the cake. They went on to say that everyone disliked the cake, they took one bite and put it down. So, first my father called Angela Mia to talk about the cake. He got a hold of the same woman in charge of the wedding cakes and explained our story. She rudely interrupted him and stated that, "the two chose a cake out of a window, they wanted the uneven coating, and the cake had a semi-sweet chocolate flavoring." Avoiding an argument, my father said he was going to talk to my wife an I. As soon as we found out, my wife contacted Angela Mia. (I have a temper, so she called) Once again the same conversation happened, the cake woman was rude once again, and basically lied to us. This time she said the owner would call us on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the oncoming week to talk about the cake. Though, she did say that "the owner may not contact you, she is very busy, but if she can't I will call you." Well, it's been three weeks, and guess what? No phone call. We went to Angela Mia after that Tuesday, and she wasn't even there. However a very nice employee was there to take our cake topping we saved for the cake woman to look at. Still we have had no phone call from the owner or the cake woman. Once I get some free time, I will take a visit to solve this situation to see if we get any compensation. My wife and I are considering going to small claims court after my visit if all does not go well. All in all, unless you want a expensive cake that looks worse than the ones you see in grocery stores, go to Angela Mia. Be prepared for rude service as well.
