The Mansion at Harkness State Park

The Mansion at Harkness State Park Connecticut

Enjoy the panoramic views of Long Island Sound from Eolia, the elegant summer mansion of the Harkness family set on over 230 seaside acres of sweeping lawns, with stately trees and spectacular gardens. Eolia is available for weddings and private parties. During the cocktail hour, guests languidly stroll through restored historical gardens seduced by the scent of flowers and the rainbow palette of colors. Admiring fountains, Oriental sculptures and hidden gardens, guests slowly wind their way back to the Mansion where they dine by candlelight and enjoy intimate conversation as gentle breezes drift through the rooms. As the sun sinks below the horizon in a dramatic burst of pinks and oranges, your guests gather under the tent to continue the magical evening with dancing and celebration. Dedicated to weddings, celebrations and conferences, Eolia hosts only one event each day. Your event will be a truly unique, special occasion, which will provide memories for a lifetime.

Below is some of what Connecticut wedding professionals had to say about this wedding venue:

For the couple seeking the mansion wedding venue in Connecticut, this one offers the most beautiful views. It has stunning grounds for the perfect backdrop for your photos.   Piece of Cake Events

This majestic Wedding venue is luxurious with views of Long Island Sound, Victorian specimen garden and tented patio. The sweeping lawn, with stately trees. The mansion is a Roman Renaissance Classical-style and boasts 42 rooms and included a pergola tearoom with hand painted floral murals. This wedding venue is pure opulant magic and lends itself to grand design. I always recommend design involving crystal, silver or gold. The venue is managed by the State of Connecticut and their main contact Sally has been wonderful to work with. – A Gala Affair

Offers a grand view of Long Island Sound with gorgeous grounds. Christine Ringuette – Down the Aisle

The Eolia Mansion located on the property of the park and is absolutely breath taking. The view of the ocean from the mansion and the exquisite side garden that you can hold your ceremony in is amazing. There is also another ceremony site on the property called the Amphitheater which is beautiful but has no power so if you are looking for music or PA be sure to talk to your entertainment about a battery powered system. The mansion is split into 3 rooms so it is important you find entertainment that has worked there before due to the set up. Pictures due this place no justice.  Bob Adamowicz – Entertainment Unlimited of New England

I love this wedding venue because it reminds me of the grand mansions of Newport Rhode Island, It is old world regal and stands out on its own. – Kim’s Cottage Confections

This is an AMAZING wedding venue! love the huge bridal suite upstairs. The waterfront views are amazing.  – Keri Anne Shea Beauty

I love the spectacular formal gardens and stonework that surrounds the gorgeous mansion.  There are gorgeous sweeping lawns with large trees on Long Island Sound. – GSP Fine Photography

GORGEOUS!  Gorgeous rooms, gorgeous grounds, gorgeous gardens.  It’s a mansion, what can I say.  It’s impressive and magical all at the same time.  – Candi’s Floral Creations

There are great places to take pictures around every corner.  Many different themed weddings work well at this venue because of the mansion/garden/beach options. – Candace Jeffery Photography

What I love about this venue is that much of it’s original state has been preserved, offering an elegant and classy backdrop for your photos. In addition, the grounds are amazing! Stonework and cast iron gates covered in ivy sit amongst beautiful gardens, all steps away from the beach! – KP Photo
