I recently went to Davids Bridal in Danbury, CT for my bridal gown and left that evening crying after the selection that they let me try on. In my eyes there was not a gown there that I liked and fit my personality. I kept telling the woman what I wanted in my gown and she kept bringing things back that I hated! Then when I would come out of the dressing room and state that I did not like the dress she then would go put a veil and a head piece on me and ask me if I still did not like it. Most of the gowns I tried on looked and felt cheap. I went to a bridal shop and found my dress that weekend. I then went back thinking that it would be different for my bridesmaids, ranging in sizes from 2 to 20. They had all the sizes but the selection was crap. It is nothing like you see on the internet. Again all of the dresses looked cheap, zippers were broken and the fabric was dirty. I guess in this situation you get what you want to pay for; all I got was a headache and disappointment! Don't waste your time!
After reading all the past reviews about how horrible and pushy the bridal consultants are I was worried until I went there. The consultant that I had was very nice, professional and not once pushy. She brought me everything I liked (I printed pictures of what I liked from the website). After I tried the wedding dresses on that I thought I would like and didn't she brought me what she thought I might look good in and I liked almost all the ones that she picked out! The one complaint I do have is that they book way too many people at the same time. There were 3 brides booked for 1:30 appointments with only 1 consultant free so other brides had to share their time with someone else; it's just not very organized.
Oh and is it so true you get what you pay for in every way you can think. The people that work at this bridal store are rude, fake, and just want you in a dress no matter what you look like in it or how you feel! I know the woman helping me didn’t even look at my ring before she blurts out the words "what a nice ring" and then when she was putting me into wedding dresses she was pushing me into buying a stupid looking dress on that day. She told me I would have to buy the dress I had on and take it home that day. Let me explain the dress I had on that she told me would be mine that day. It had a run going down the right side, and on the inside was foundation from another bride. And she wanted me to have that as MY wedding dress. These people are so retail focused and being someone who works in retail I know I don’t want that focus around my wedding gown. I have also heard stories of bridesmaid dresses ripping and them not doing anything about it. Yes they are cheap and with this economy we could all use that but this is the dress of your dreams do you really want to get what you pay for??? I know I don’t and I will never step foot into that horrible place they call a bridal store. It should be called a bride factory because that’s all they want to produce.
The ladies all working at this bridal shop were very rude and stuck up. They were not helpful and did not let me pick my own dresses! The lady just kept bringing me dresses that were my size and not ones I was choosing! i also had to wait a half hour just to be helped and didn't like the fact that you had to wait for someone to help you.
Awful experience! My maid of honor & I went there at 6:00. There were FOUR girls sitting at the front desk, one was actually texting. I told them I just wanted to try on a couple dresses, nothing major. They told me I couldn't because they closed in an hour. One of them was nice and said I could probably try on 1 or 2. I said that was totally fine but the other girl said there were only 2 ladies on the floor and they both had clients. She had me make an appt for the following day. Not 1 of those 4 girls could open a dressing room for me? They just thought I'd be there for 2 hours. When I was giving them my info to make an appt, she asked me when my wedding date was. I told her the date (a year & a half away) and one of them replied, "Wow." in a snotty way. I was pissed. The nicer girl asked me if I had booked my photographer yet and if I was interested in recommendations....REALLY? I said no thanks. So we just walked around for 20 min. I really hated the cheap feel of digging through the bagged dresses just hanging on the racks. I felt like I was digging through them. I saw 3 dresses on statues that I really liked, but they were all $1,150! If I'm going to spend that much on a dress, I'd rather go to a fancy bridal shop and get friendlier service. I won't ever go back in that place.
You'd be better off finding dresses for your wedding at a department store in the nearby mall. They were rude and unprofessional - for example, I called ahead and booked an appointment for a bridesmaid of mine to choose her dress. We checked in at the front desk and were waiting for about ten minutes to be assigned to a consultant. Once we were, she was clearly overwhelmed with a huge wedding party of 20+ individuals who she was supposed to be taking care of single-handed as well as ourselves. We were given a fitting room and provided her with our selections that I wanted my bridesmaid to try on. Thirty minutes later, we were provided two of those dresses but only after searching for our consultant and that huge bridal party taking over the fitting room we had been assigned. My father wanted to sit as we were standing for 40 minutes now but a different consultant spoke harshly to him because she said those seats were for her bride's family - there were no people with this bride. I was already disappointed with the service but we ended up selecting a dress two hours later (our consultant had to go on break so we had to wait for another). It took three months for her dress to arrive but at least it did and was fine for the event. Already with low expectations, I am now a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding. She chose dresses but they were discontinued so she had to rush and choose another which is fine. I collected my dress and was told the straps could be attached/detached myself. However, when I bought the dress and tried it on I saw that the straps need to be sewn in. I called David's Bridal and was told it would be more than twenty dollars to simply to attach the straps I had already bought which came included.. so much money for five minutes of labor and some thread?? I will never recommend this store or chain of stores and the cheap price is clearly reflected in the quality of merchandise and customer service.
