These days it can be pretty tough for brides to choose the right wedding dress for their big day. There is so much choice around these days that trying to pick out one dress from the huge range available can seem an impossible task and brides often need some inspiration to help them to make the right choice. With taffeta gowns, mermaid dresses, vintage style bridal wear, and classic ball gowns to name but a few, it is not surprising that the modern bride sometimes needs a helping hand when it comes to choosing one of the most special items of clothing she will ever buy.
One of the great ways to get inspiration – and something that many people do to get an idea of what they want their wedding gowns to be like – is to take inspiration from wedding dresses in the movies. Of course, there are many movies that feature brides, artsy wedding and bridal gowns, but some seem to stick out way more than others. Below are five of the great movie wedding dresses that could help to inspire even the most confused of brides.
Bride Wars: The beautiful wedding gown that was adorned by Kate Hudson in Bride Wars has already inspired many brides. The Vera Wang wedding dress was a fabulous creation, with lashings of tulle netting for a full skirt, a classic sweetheart bust line, a fitted bodice with beautiful embroidery – the perfect princess wedding dress!

Sex & The City: Sarah Jessica Parker looked striking and dramatic in the gorgeous Vivienne Westwood wedding gown, which she adorned in the Sex & The City movie. A full, ruffle layer skirt is coupled with a tight fitting bodice with unusual, pointed cups around the bust for a really dramatic effect.

Sweet Home Alabama: Reece Witherspoon showed off her stunning figure in a fabulous mermaid style wedding dress in Sweet Home Alabama. The creation was tight fitting up to around two thirds of the way down and then flared out in an elegant mermaid style.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past: Jennifer Garner looked elegant and graceful in this movie as she stepped out in her beautiful Manuel Mota bridal dress. The gorgeous gown has an A line skirt and beautiful lace detail giving it a classic finish whilst still looking fresh and contemporary.

You, me & Dupree: For brides that are looking for something classy yet more casual than the full skirted ball gown dresses the lovely creation worn by Kate Hudson in this movie could be just the thing. This is a silk, strapless dress designed by Karen Patch, and whilst it looks elegant and tasteful it also looks like the perfect dress for a beach wedding!
